Start here: Hierarchical Entity Graph (HEG)

In one minute

HEG is a site architecture: one primary entity per URL, four layers (L0–L3), stable schema @id values, and no cross-silo links. Use this page to orient, then pick a pillar or a tool.

1. What HEG is

Hierarchical Entity Graph (HEG) is a deterministic way to structure a site so crawlers, ranking systems, and AI agents can tell what each URL is about — and how it relates to the rest of the graph.

Four layers, fixed jobs:

  • L0 Hub — defines the domain topic and points only to the L1 pillars.
  • L1 Core pillars — four ownership areas (trust, technical substrate, topical coverage, user signals).
  • L2 Supporting entities — deep how-to under one parent pillar; siblings stay inside the silo.
  • L3 Evidence & tools — measurements, methods, and utilities that prove or operationalize L1/L2 claims.
Non-negotiables

One primary entity per URL. Stable @id fragments (e.g. #organization, /om-oss/#rasmus-bastrup). Explicit parents in schema and in links. No random links across unrelated pillars.

2. Who it’s for

Builders who own a site’s information architecture — technical SEO leads, content architects, and founders who refuse keyword sprawl. If you ship thin programmatic pages or cross-link everything to everything, HEG will feel constraining. That’s the point.

Valerion Tech (valerion.tech) publishes the method. It is not the Valerion projector brand (valerion.com / AWOL Vision).

3. Three concrete steps

  1. Map entities before you write. List the concepts you must own. Assign one URL each. Kill near-duplicates.
  2. Wire the graph. Put JSON-LD @graph on every URL with stable @id, isPartOf / parent links, and a single Person + Organization. Validate with the schema tool below.
  3. Prove and measure. Attach L3 evidence where you make claims. Check AI crawler access. Track intent fit with Search Console CTR by position — not vanity traffic alone.

4. Tools (use these first)

Fourth “tool” in practice: treat Search Console + your RUM beacon as measurement infrastructure for the User signals pillar — not a separate product page.

5. The four L1 pillars
